Assessment is made up of three teams, the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and two assessment teams. The MASH is the first point of contact for all professionals in Peterborough to report their concerns over a child’s welfare, whether they are in education, the police, healthcare, charity or are a member of the public.

The Assessment team is then responsible for assessing the individual situation and recommending how it should be dealt with. This process takes a maximum of 35 days, at the end of which a case is either closed or passed to the Family Safeguarding team after a short period of intervention.

Roles in the Assessment Teams are well suited to those who thrive under pressure and like working at a fast pace, and are measured and analytical so that they can make accurate and thorough assessments.
