Career Development

All children’s social care staff have an individual training and development plan, completed as part of their performance development review (PDR). This is designed to assist you in achieving your career goals, as well as helping you to develop your skills, so that you can define and own your career development.

The career progression for social workers is as follows:

Social Worker Case Study

Rafiat completed her AYSE in October 2015. She studied her social work degree at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, but didn’t initially take a social work role, instead taking a position as a senior family worker at a Cambridgeshire children’s centre. She then joined Peterborough City Council in October 2014 and began her AYSE.

“I love getting to know children and people from all walks of life, and giving them the opportunity to tell me their story.

Peterborough is a great place to work and I love being a social worker, it is a challenging but equally very rewarding career.”
