“What I love about this job is working with partner agencies to develop and improve services for young care leavers. It’s great to support my team to give young people the best possible support. It means they gain real satisfaction from the job they do.”

Gisela Jarman

Gisela is a Team Manager in the Family Support team. She has been a social worker since qualifying in 1988 and spent a number of years working in Cambridgeshire progressing to senior practitioner, Child Care Review Manager and Child Protection Co-ordinator. Gisela also spent a number of years working for Rutland Council. She rejoined Peterborough City Council as a team manager in April 2015.

“I have a real soft spot for Peterborough. I’ve lived here for years, brought my children up here and there’s something rewarding about supporting the community you live in. Pay is good for social workers here and it’s easy to get around the city, plus there are great opportunities for career progression. I really like the team culture, we’re making good progress and getting the right outcomes.”

Sian Stevens

Sian is a Team Manager in the Looked After Children team. She has been a social worker since 2001 and a team leader for three years.

“I really enjoy working here and we have a very strong team spirit and camaraderie. On social work in general, I’ve always enjoyed the opportunity to build relationships with children and share their highs and lows as we watch them grow up.”
