Senior Practitioner

Senior Practitioners are social workers with a number of years’ experience who have demonstrated their expertise.Senior Practitioners command a higher salary as they are able to take on the most complex and demanding cases, and they are also expected to mentor and support more junior members of the team.

The Senior Practitioner (SP) role is ideal for those who thrive on the front line of social work and are reluctant to move into a management role.

All children’s social care staff, social workers, team managers and heads of service have an individual training and development plan, completed as part of their Performance Development Review (PDR).In addition to your continuing professional development, you will also be supported and encouraged to develop your career as a qualified social worker through our established Career Progression Framework.

In addition, the Peterborough Safeguarding Children’s Board provides a wide range of multi-agency training to help meet the needs for Peterborough’s entire workforce within statutory, voluntary and independent organisations in relation to safeguarding children.
