About Peterborough City Council

One of the advantages of working in social care in Peterborough is that there is a single, unitary Local Authority.

Peterborough City Council has no overall party in control, and benefits from co-operative working across the political spectrum, with the Conservatives leading a strong programme of growth and regeneration across the city. The Council employs over 1,400 people and has a strong reputation as a leader of innovation.

Children’s Social Care services sit within the People and Communities Directorate. The Directorate has a strong leadership team, backed by a committed Chief Executive and Lead Member. Services are being redesigned to meet the needs of our population rather than stick to the same old ways, and this approach makes us agile, with a dynamic, positive atmosphere.

Relationships with other services, such as the NHS and the police, are strong and we are making excellent progress against our goals.
